Our Beliefs
Our Savior is a Bible centered liturgical church. What that means is our faith goes back to the very beginning of time when God created the heavens and earth. From the first promise of a savior in Genesis 3:15 to the arrival of our Savior in the flesh in Luke 2 and His sacrifice on the cross in John 19 and His resurrection in Matthew 27, we trace our life as the people of God - Gathered together to Worship and Sent forth to Serve. Our basic beliefs are summarized in a Small Catechism that includes our teachings on Communion, Baptism, the Lord's Prayer, the Apostles' Creed, Confession and Absolution and the Ten Commandments. What denomination do we belong to? We don't really belong to a denomination. Our Savior is part of a "synod" of churches that is located not only in the United States but around the globe. The word synod means "walking together," and that is what we desire to do - walk together with other churches in what we believe (doctrine) and the way we do things (practice). In a synod, the individual congregations decide what they believe and choose to link themselves to the other congregations through a common confession of faith and practice. If you would like to know more about our "synod" - you can log in to the official website at www.lcms.org. There's even a place where you can find answers to Frequently Asked Questions and lots of informational brochures and flyers about who we are and what we believe as a church body.
